What is the HNC/HND in Hospitality Management programme?

This diploma provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace.  Learners have the opportunity to do this through formal work placements or part-time employment experience. The qualification prepares learners for employment in the hospitality industry and will be suitable for learners who have already decided that they wish to enter this area of work. Progression from this qualification may well be into or within employment in the hospitality industry where learners may work towards membership of the Institute of Hospitality.

Each unit is internally assessed using assignments and are graded by tutors. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction. There is no overall grade awarded for this qualification.

A combination of in class activities i.e. presentations, witness statements, observations (weighting 50 %) and written assignments 2500-3000 words (weighting 50%)

A relevant QCF Level 4 qualification or minimum of 1 years work experience in the Hospitality and/or Tourism Industry at Managerial or supervisory level.

Applicants for who English is not their first language must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in both written and spoken English.  The minimum requirement is IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.

Up to 2 Academic years.

September & January in each year.  Course availability subject to minimum group size.

Students can progress to the CTH level 6 diploma, ILM or ABE Diploma (QCF Level 6) or third year of a university degree programme.
